22. Pitfalls & Tips

  1. Always get samples — Never order based on photos alone. Photos and actual products can look very different.
  2. Compare across 3 platforms — The same product can have 3 different prices. Don't pay the "information tax."
  3. Check design patents — Especially on bao66.cn (bags) and toy platforms. Counterfeit designs can get your Amazon account suspended.
  4. Start small — Don't place a massive first order. Test supplier reliability first.
  5. Know return terms — Each platform has different return/refund policies. Read them before ordering.
  6. Cross-border compliance — NALA provides FDA docs for cosmetics. For other platforms, you need to verify this yourself.
  7. Factor in total landed cost — Dropshipping fees look cheap, but combined with cross-border shipping your margins can disappear.
  8. Test customer service — Some platforms (e.g., 17zwd) have slow response. Don't use them for time-sensitive orders.
  9. Watch out for holiday shutdowns — Chinese New Year and National Week (Oct 1–7) affect all platforms. Plan inventory accordingly.
