The short answer: For fast fashion at the lowest prices, go to Shisanhang (十三行) near Cultural Park metro. For mid-to-high-end branded women's wear, Baima (白马) near Guangzhou Railway Station. For leather goods and bags, Sanyuanli (三元里). Guangzhou has at least a dozen major wholesale markets spread across different neighborhoods — you can't see them all in one trip, so pick based on your product category.

Guangzhou is the wholesale capital of southern China. Unlike Yiwu's single massive complex, Guangzhou's markets are spread across the city, each specializing in different product categories. Here's what you need to know to navigate them.

Apparel Markets: The Big Three

Shisanhang (十三行) — Fast Fashion Origin

Shisanhang's Xinzhongguan Building is the #1 source for fast fashion in China. New styles appear here daily, weeks before they hit online platforms like 1688. Lower floors (1-3) are budget volume wear. Upper floors (4+) carry boutique-quality original designs with higher price points but better construction.

The market opens at 6 AM and the best stock sells out by 10 AM. Serious buyers start early. Most shops sell by the piece but give better pricing at 5-10+ pieces per style.

Baima (白马) — Branded & Mid-to-High-End

Baima has been operating for 30+ years and carries a reputation for quality. This is where you go for clothing that competes with Zara and H&M on quality, not $2 fast fashion. Many shops here supply domestic Chinese brands and export to Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Zhanxi Road Area (站西商圈) — Export-Focused

The Zhanxi Road cluster near Guangzhou Railway Station serves primarily export buyers — Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe. If you see clothing in those markets with "Made in China" tags, it likely passed through this area. English and basic Arabic are more common here than in other Guangzhou markets.

Leather Goods: Sanyuanli (三元里)

Sanyuanli is Guangzhou's leather district. Handbags, wallets, belts, luggage, and small leather accessories — thousands of shops clustered around the Sanyuanli metro station. Quality ranges from $2 PU bags to $50+ genuine leather goods.

Most shops here are wholesale-only, meaning they expect you to buy 5-10+ pieces per style. But many will sell singles as "samples" at a slight markup. Bring photos of styles you want — many shops can produce custom designs if you're ordering volume.

Beyond Apparel and Leather

Jewelry and accessories: Daluosha (大罗沙) in Panyu district is China's largest jewelry wholesale market. Raw gemstones, finished pieces, and custom manufacturing are all available. This is where many global fashion jewelry brands source.

Shoes: The Guangzhou shoe wholesale cluster is spread across several buildings near the railway station. For athletic and casual shoes, you're better off going to Jinjiang (Fujian) or Wenzhou (Zhejiang), but Guangzhou has strong offerings in women's fashion footwear.

Lighting: Zhongshan Fifth Road and the surrounding area has dozens of lighting wholesale shops. For industrial quantities, the nearby city of Guzhen (古镇) is China's lighting capital — about 90 minutes from Guangzhou by car.
